November has been the most colourful month so I thought I would post a few of my favourites.

After the centenary of the battle of Jutland, the British and German Navy opened up their ships to the Orkney public on 4 June 2016. HMS Duncan and FGS Brandenburg.

I never take enough time to have a good look about Orkney but 6 years ago I took the time to have a proper visit to RNAS Twatt which is the most complete wartime aerodrome left in Orkney.
There are plans afoot between the Birsay Heritage Trust and A.R.G.O.S. (Aviation Research Group Orkney and Shetland) to restore parts of this site, in particular the control tower and these photographs were taken after the site had been cleaned out.
You wouldn’t believe these photos were taken within 20 minutes of one another.
One side of the hill was glorious and this was to the south over Scapa Flow
And my favourite one of the night
There are some astonishing pictures on Facebook today of the Aurora Borealis. Only tried it once and they were not a tremendous success but loads of time to practice as they only happen when everyone seems to be in bed.
Finally a domain name and a place to put all my photos together. This blog is going to be exactly as it says on the tin, Orkney online, Hope you like what you see.
I don’t have a camera that cost a squillion quid, neither did the lenses. It is a Pentax K-R with a maximum image size of 12 Megapixels. Older photos will have come from bridge cameras but to me it’s not a profession, I just enjoy taking pictures.
Please keep popping past and if it hasn’t been updated in a while, give me a prod.
All the best
Neil
